Utterly beautiful. A soul song. I see others wishing to share this and I would like to share it too, to our Palestinian Solidarity Network in Ōtautahi Christchurch Aotearoa New Zealand. We rally each week for a free free Palestine.
I was moved to the core of my being - your prose is riveting, as each stanza conjures in one's mind images of loss, longing but ultimately hope that reunion is Qadr.
Simply brilliant with the same passion and pathos as Nizar Qabbani.
Please do not stop writing because the Ummah and the world will be at lesser if we are not given the gift of more of your prose.
Thanks Ahmad. Let me know if the following author bio works:
"Ahmad Ibsais writes on politics, news, and culture in his Substack State of Siege, focusing on Palestine, the Middle East, and Western colonialism across the world. He shared this poem on November 24, 2024."
This piece doesn’t just speak; it cries, it aches, and it remembers. Truly, it is a testament to the enduring power of words to carry both love and a cause. Thank you, Ahmad, for sharing something so profoundly moving.
You think you have a copy right on pain and grief? No criticism of those who started the Gaza war and denied the Gaza people protection? Those who started a war knowing full well how many would be hurt and killed. Provoking a stranger force, hiding behind women and children, using hospitals and schools to fire rockets at Israel? Take some responsibility for what your people have chosen and the path they lead you on.
Thank you Ahmad. We see so much but hear so little from the horror you and your people have endured for so many decades. Please do not give up as there are legions of people throughout the world hoping, praying and demonstrating for your cause. Do not give up. We are with you in spirit.
