This is beautiful and expressive, and it touches the heart far more than just being a passing piece of news… Poetry stays in memory in a way news often does not, so continue with your poetry alongside your reporting, Ahmed.. we encourage you and truly appreciate it.

Because truth sometimes needs the language of a journalist, sometimes the heartbeat and reflection of a poet, and sometimes the voice of an ordinary human being saying: I am here, I see, I bear witness, and I will carry the voice and image of my people who are suffering, and I will keep writing and writing.

Even I, when I first began my journey here, used to jot down notes and say to myself: you will find me sometimes a poet, sometimes a journalist, sometimes a voice of resistance through words, and sometimes someone taking initiative to support the families of my people.

And if all of this keeps the homeland alive.. at least in my heart.. then I welcome all of these roles… and the path becomes a little lighter.

Because staying alive to the truth, in a world that constantly tries to erase it, is everything we are searching for. And at the very least, let our conscience remain at peace and our humanity still alive within our hearts.. no matter how much they try to strip it away from us.

How strange to outlive a tree

The people of Palestine are not superhuman. They are however as fully human as it is possible to be. Rooted in their land, bound to their communities, literate, educated, full of heart, devoted to God. They have also experienced the full brutality of the 20th and 21st centuries.

No wonder. No suprise then that Palestine produces the best poets and poetry of our age.

Moving, important, urgent your poetry strikes at the heart of our humanity. Use that wound to power resistance. We must all fight against the evil that has spread. Words have wings spread yours in support in whatever way you can.

Your poetry is the evidence that unlike the psychopaths who try to destroy our Land, our minds and our History - you can feel and that you are capable of what they are not : Love.

What wealth - all the more so because the IOF cannot loot it !
