Thanks goodness this narrative doesn't work for most people anymore. If Israel's genocide in Gaza doesn't open people's eyes, I don't know what will.

"Since 9/11, Islamophobia has shaped many layers of American public life. It was manufactured in newsrooms, classrooms, police departments, and war rooms."

It is so refreshing to see a writer who recognizes that the working class in the US is not the source of Islamophobia. So many accept the dogma of the genocidal Imperialist Dem party which vilifies the wage slaves for the crimes of their cruel masters. The fact is the racism Dems blame and shame the working class for has actually always been propagated at least since the civil war by the ruling class. The same Dem party at that time worked constantly to promote a fear of blacks in an effort to preserve slavery in the south.

The Dems current obsession with racism has always been merely an effort to promote fear and hatred between and amongst wage slaves who have everything in common. It pleases me greatly to see an opponent of Israel's disgusting slaughter of women and children reach high office. There's a lesson here for young politicians: oppose Israel publically and consistently and you will win! Embrace the wage slaves of all stripes, encourage their unity in opposition to the billionaire Oligarchs and the Zionists that make their daily struggle to live so painful and difficult. That's what a true left candidate would do.

The Islamophobic bullshit started long before 9/11, but it was deliberately ramped up to its highest fever pitch back then. The Israelis themselves discredited a lot of it with their own livestreaming since October 7, 2023, and the combination of their atrocities and the crappy economy at home has begun to turn American nationalism against them as well as basic human decency.

Israel wasn't the only thing on the ballot in New York. Mamdani ran on some working class basics--mainly the Food and the Rent Cost Too Damned Much!--and it didn't hurt that his chief opponent was a sexual harasser or worse as well as the guy who made damned sure more old people died from Covid complications in New York than anywhere else.

The primary results have some warning signs. Haarlem and other predominantly Black areas went heavily for Cuomo, which tells me the Black churches are still solidly in the DNC pocket, and they will probably support Eric Adams, just because he's Black if nothing else, in November. Plus there is anti-anything-that-looks-like-the-guy-who-overcharges-them-at-the-convenience store prejudice in many Black communities. I know. I live in one.

Mamdani could not have won without the New York PMC. From the electoral map, it looks like most of his support came from those making over $100,000 a year. His proposals to do things that would actually make their lives better definitely helped, but I think the fact that they are being forced to pay for a genocide must have helped him as well.

Regardless, this is the first election in a LONG time where AIPAC went full bore against a candidate and lost badly. It is a sign that the Zionist narrative is collapsing. Indeed, it's a sign that it is disgusting, and is rapidly losing its power over American minds. Look for it to get even more vicious and ridiculous as it continues to lose ground.

First-class article Ahmad, thank you. Hopefully someday epigrams like “anti-blackism”, “anti-Islamism” and “anti-Palestinianism” will make its way into the mainstream consciousness and make people recoil at the mere mention of it. I can only imagine.
