Thank you for an informative and insightful piece if journalism. I just spent a few minutes reading comments here and there, just to take the pulse of readers, and on many sites, (Matt Taibbi’s stands out), Greta Thunberg is being treated with so little respect that I fear for humanity. It’s incredible that this ad hominem slurring of a brave young woman is what passes for educated criticism among a group of people who have no excuse for their small minded bigotry.

No matter what you think of her, or her shipmates, they are victims of an international crime. How many ways are there to view this?

I agree... while I have OCD and as such constitutionally live with shame most of the time I am awake for my failings, from my experience most humans are really, really shame (and guilt!) avoidant and incredibly good at mental tricks/ cognitive dissonance that allow them to not feel those unpleasant emotions. I have found that as the genocide gets worse, the more negative reactions I have found when leafletting etc. in my town - the more aggressive the responses of "I don't care" or from angry supporters of Israel. Because on some level they feel those prickings of doubt and then feel angry they were made to feel even a smidgen of discomfort.

Dear Adam,

look at the anger directed toward you as the tension released when a stuck pointer is freed on a compass....in this case a moral compass.

Western public opinion is swinging and beginning to see Israel as the majority of the rest of the world sees it and Zionism : the embodiment of the full evil of an avaricious armed military church group that has its own state, parasiting on the warped morality of countries hijacked by "evangelical Zionist Christians" who believe that, by supporting Israeli Zionists, biblical prophesy will be fullfilled.

Lets hope the "scales will be lifted off more eyes" sooner rather than later.

Religion poisons everything.

This is such a well written post on the simply unconscionable genocide against the Palestinian people, the feeble expressions of what is truly horrific, and the lack of action by those countries that could make a difference instead of wringing their hands whilst sending weapons/components. Everlasting shame on them all.

Your writing needs much wider exposure than just a few of us here on Substack.

We wait to see what becomes of the various ‘people’s marches’ to Egypt. Godspeed to them. Free Palestine.
